Jimmy Slonina is a multi-disciplined performer whose work has been enjoyed across the globe. He currently performs as a lead clown in Cirque du Soleil's KOOZÅ, directed by master clown David Shiner, presently on its North American tour. Prior to that he created clown characters for and performed in Franco Dragone's aquatic spectacle, Le Rêve in Las Vegas, NV. He is the founder of the film and theatrical production company LionHeart Theatrics, for which he has directed and produced several music and promotional videos, as well as staging and starring in Samuel Beckett's Act Without Words I & II for Las Vegas' annual Beckett Festival. Originally from Chicago, IL and a graduate of the University of Illinois - Champaign/Urbana, Jimmy spent about a decade as actor, director, and administrator for the Windy City's critically-acclaimed, now-defunct Defiant Theatre. With Defiant, he was able to stretch his abilities through a broad range of styles: from classical works like Shakespeare and Alfred Jarry, to newer works by Caryl Churchill and Stephen King, to unique original productions, including the smash hit Action Movie: The Play. Jimmy made good use of his time in Chicago as a makeshift grad school to hone his skills in physical, contemporary, and classical theatre, as well as in stage combat. Besides Defiant, he has performed with many Chicago theatre companies, including Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Steppenwolf Theatre, and Redmoon Theater to name a few. He has also appeared in several short and feature films and is the recipient of two Joseph Jefferson Citations for acting. Over the course of his career, Jimmy has received many critical accolades as being a premiere physical actor. |
